Juneteenth Message

Seeking to be Nominated to the Position of
NBA President-Elect

AGITATE. AGITATE. AGITATE.

The words of Frederick Douglass were a mandate—one that the founders of the National Bar Association answered in 1925. That mandate is alive and urgent today.

As we mark Juneteenth Celebration Week, we are reminded that freedom must be fought for again and again by every generation that inherits the struggle. The founders of the National Bar Association understood that in 1925. We must be resolute, laser-focused, and ready to move with strategic purpose in this moment.

The guardrails built by those on whose shoulders we stand—secured through sacrifice and decades of service—are being torn down with deliberate force. Voting rights, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, and our very history are under direct and deliberate attack. There is no organization better positioned to meet this moment than the National Bar Association.

I know the National Bar Association.
I know what it is capable of.

And I know what this moment is asking of us.

My campaign reflects the principles that have guided my leadership--integrity, stewardship, and a deep commitment to service--shaped by years of experience at the national, regional, and affiliate levels of the NBA.  These experiences have defined how I lead and why I serve with unwavering purpose.

I am Kimberley  Ann Ward,  a Life Member of the National Bar Association and the National Bar Institute.  I have served on the NBA Board of Governors continuously since 2019.  My experience spans across the National Bar Association, including my current seat on the Executive Committee as Vice President of Regions and Affiliates, service on the Women Lawyer's Division Board of Directors, as Inaugural and Sole Chair of the NBA Affordable Care Act Policy Task Force, and as Chief of NBA Service Initiatives, among many other positions.

I am Prepared, Purposeful, and Proven.

As a trusted leader with Proven Results, the call is clear

Advocate.

For the constitutional and civil rights our predecessors fought and bled to secure—defending voting rights, safeguarding civil liberties, and fortifying the constitutional protections our communities cannot afford to lose.

Amplify.

The collective voice this moment demands so that the National Bar Association is the the nation's preeminent voice on civil rights and legal issues that legislators, communities, and the nation look to when it matters most--by amplifying the work of our sections, divisions, regions and affiliate chapters, and through collaborative partnerships that strengthen our collective voice.

The mission we are called to carry forward--into our next century with sustained and strengthened membership, fiscal responsibility, and the infrastructure the National Bar Association deserves.

Advance.

As We Step Boldly Into Our Second Century

Join me.   Agitate. Advocate. Amplify. Advance.

As I seek to be nominated to the position of NBA President Elect. I ask--with the full weight of this moment and one hundred years of this Association's legacy behind me--for your Support, your Vote, and your Endorsement.

Experienced. Trusted. Ready.

Kimberley Ann Ward, Esq.
